Providing an Additional Level of Service
The Citizen Volunteer Program helps Colton's Police Department provide an additional level of service to the public that may not otherwise be available. Volunteers may assist all divisions of the department, and are recruited from all cultural and socioeconomic segments of the community. Types of services provided cover a wide range of activities and require expertise and training in any specialized fields.
Improving Efficiency & Effectiveness
The Citizen Volunteer Program utilizes the capabilities of experienced retirees and others to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the law enforcement community. Volunteers assist department personnel with specific functions such as clerical duties, language interpretation, non-custody fingerprinting, non-enforcement patrol duties and specialized services such as videotaping, photography, and computer services.
