Traffic

Division Overview
The Traffic Division is dedicated to providing professional traffic safety services throughout the City of Colton. This is accomplished through education and enforcement. Traffic officers focus on reducing the number and severity of traffic collisions by reducing speed, high-risk violations, sobriety and traffic safety checkpoints, driver and pedestrian education, and presentations on traffic safety to the public.
Traffic Units
Included are defective equipment violation enforcement, commercial vehicle violation enforcement, and traffic hazard notification.

2020 California Statistics

  • 3,982 persons were killed in traffic collisions
    • 1,143 of these fatalities were a result of alcohol
  • 203,888 persons were injured in traffic collisions
    • 16,364 of these injuries were a result of alcohol
