About the Program
The Colton Police Department began the K-9 program in the 1970s and currently employs one German Shepherd and one Czech Shepherd. The purpose of the K-9 Unit is to protect the citizens, apprehend suspects, and add to the safety of police officers.
These services are provided through the daily patrol activities and through education and public demonstrations. The Colton Police Department K-9 Unit is dedicated to professional service through high standards of weekly and on-going education of handlers and trainers. The K-9 teams are proud to be a daily utilized special unit provided to the community by the chief of police.
