About the Program

The Colton Police Department began the K-9 program in the 1970s and currently employs two dogs. The purpose of the K-9 Unit is to protect the citizens, apprehend suspects, and add to the safety of police officers.

These services are provided through the daily patrol activities and through education and public demonstrations. The Colton Police Department K-9 Unit is dedicated to professional service through high standards of weekly and on-going education of handlers and trainers. The K-9 teams are proud to be a daily utilized special unit provided to the community by the chief of police.

Become a Colton Police K-9 Training Site
To enhance our biweekly training we are constantly looking for new areas and buildings to train in. To partner with the Colton Police Department K-9 Unit and become a police canine training site, contact us by emailing a member from the K-9 unit. A member from the unit will contact you to provide further information or to answer any questions you may have. Thank you and we look forward to becoming partners with the community.
